K-water is holding the National Idea Contest for Water Management Innovation from March 5 to May 31. K-water has been promoting innovations in water management, such as building the ICT-based drought information system and smart water city amidst rapidly changing water management environment issues including climate change.
The contest intends to listen to the lively voice of the people about the issues of water management that are closely related to their lives, such as water conservation and drought and flood prevention, and to reflect their opinions in K-water’s innovative water management so as to positively affect the people’s lives. Anyone who is interested in water management can participate in the contest, whether individuals, groups, or corporate bodies of 10 people or less. Ideas can be submitted in the form specified on the K-water website (www.kwater.or.kr). There are four application categories: safe water (water shortages, disaster prevention), clean water (water quality improvement), enjoyable water (spread of water value), and water for all (services for the people including support for disadvantaged groups).
The ideas are evaluated through a three-level blind screening of a judging committee composed of in-house and external experts. The criteria for the screening are creativity, applicability, sustainability, logicality, and completeness. A total of 15 outstanding ideas including the Grand Prize winning idea will be selected and announced in July. Prize winners will receive a certificate and prize money. In addition, the most outstanding ideas with high public benefit and applicable to management will be actively implemented in a project linked to the K-water Water Industry Start-Up Program.
Meanwhile, to ensure the fairness and transparency of the screening, the judging committee will provide turned down contestants with the reason why they were not chosen from among the finalists. For more information on the competition, please visit the K-water homepage. For inquiries, contact the K-water Planning and Coordination Department Water Management Innovation Team (042-629-2384). K-water CEO Lee Hak-soo said, “Through this contest, K-water will do its best to raise interest in water among citizens, and to achieve water management innovation that can positively affect the people’s lives and create social value by collecting different ideas from the public.”
