On July 18, Hapcheon Hydroelectric Power Plant was designated as Yeongnam region’s first self-operated power plant for power failure recovery. Self-operated power plants internally generate power and support in power recovery when a regional or nationwide power failure incident occurs. In preparation for power failure in wide areas, Korea Power Exchange operates a national power system by dividing it into seven regions (Northern Gyeongin [Seoul/Incheon], Southern Gyeongin, Yeongdong, Yeongnam, Jungbu, Honam and Jeju). In addition to Hapcheon Hydroelectric Power Plant, K-water is operating other self-operated power plants, such as Chungju Hydroelectric Power Plant (Southern Gyeongin) and Daecheong Hydroelectic Power Plant (Jungbu).
