K-water held a completion ceremony for the hydraulic turbine model test platform at the K-water Convergence Institute on June 28. The hydraulic turbine is a type of hydroelectric power generation equipment that uses water’s head drop to get power. The hydraulic turbine model test platform verifies the performance of real turbines using precisely reduced turbine models. The platform is the first in Korea to use measurement sensors, generators, bearings, and pumps that have the same level of performance as those used in advanced countries and can conduct performance tests in accordance with international standards. K-water CEO Lee Hak-su said, “We are now able to carry out performance tests, which is the core of hydraulic turbine manufacturing, in Korea, and this will be a great help in securing source technologies. We will share test facilities and relevant technologies with domestic manufacturers, localize advanced technologies and respond to increasing demand for eco-friendly energy.”
