On June 25, K-water launched the planning of an integrated upstream water environment improvement model. Upstream water such as brooks flowing into rivers or dams accounts for 73% of the entire water of a river basin, but as there is no clear management body for it, the quality and pollutants of upstream water are not properly managed. K-water will strengthen the management of upstream water and carry out an intensive project that integrates all the brooks, from which rivers rise, as well as small and local streams. K-water will maximize the improvement effect by considering the functions of streams and rivers in a balanced manner and test the upstream water improvement project to establish fundamental measures to reduce the occurrence of green tides in dams and weirs. It will also cope with green algae from an integrated perspective by making policy suggestions to the government based on these measures.
