On the 17th, the ‘Water-Energy-Food Nexus Conference’ was held at Emerald Hall, on the 3rd floor of the FKI Hall, to formulate a preemptive response to climate change and resource security. A ’nexus’ means an interconnected state of objects; therefore, a ‘Water-Energy-Food Nexus’ refers to the policies and techniques that will manage the three essential resources for people’s lives in an efficient manner. With this nexus, the water used for energy production can be re-used for living or agricultural purpose when appropriate, and vice versa, so that integrated operations can utilize the surplus resources for another purpose. Thus, Hak-Soo Lee, President of K-water, said, “We will do our best to overcome the resource crisis through the construction of the ‘Water-Energy-Food Nexus” and to prepare future growth engines with the related technological developments.”
