K-water received the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) for the first time in October 2002. Through renewal assessment every three years, K-water has proved the effectiveness of its environmental management system.
Since 2007, K-water has promoted internal experts to ensure quality and environment management required to meet ISO standards (169 experts as of 2017). These experts help monitor and improve quality and environment management conditions of individual facilities, practicing environment management meeting the international standards
In 2003, K-water introduced and has operated the Environmental Performance Evaluation (EPE) program based on ISO 14031 in order to regularly measure and diagnosis its environmental performance, and to systematically manage its environmental management. K-water built the nation’s first EPE Measuring & Diagnosis System in 2006, and has managed its environmental performances using the system. In January 2007, K-water achieved a domestic patent for its EPE Measuring & Diagnosis System.
EPE score shows the corporate’s improved levels against the base year (2006) and has managed as one of key performance indices of the corporation. The EPE score of 2016 was measured 153 points, which suggests an improved level of the company’s environmental management by 53% from its base year (2006).
