World Water Forum

World Water Forum is the biggest water event in the world which was first held in 1997 by World Water Council for interested parties in water to discuss on joint response to water problems all over the world.

Outline of event

  • Targets of participation : Major international organizations, governments, civilian experts, NGO, etc.
  • Period of event : For 1 week before and after World Water Day (March 22 every year) once every three years
  • Place of event: A city designated by 36 directorate organizations of World Water Council
  • Period of preparation: About 3 years (Continuous regular meetings and progress reports during the preparation)

Programs

  • Thematic Process tackles the water challenges and provides solutions for discussion at the World Water Forum.
  • Political Process provides the opportunity for discussion amongst and with elected officials at all levels (Head of States, Ministers, parliamentarian, Local Authorities, and Basin authorities).
  • Regional Process provides perspectives on water from all regions based on local needs.
  • Fair and Expo provide a space for all stakeholders to showcase their contributions.
