Overview

K-water is the nation’s number one clean energy producer. It has been creating economic values by properly responding to the impacts of climate change and participating in the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) emission trading system.

K-water has been operating clean energy plants with 1,337MW in total installed capacity, which accounts for 33% of the corresponding plants in Korea. It has also produced and supplied 3,040GWh of clean energy per year, which could replace 5.19 million barrels of oil imports per year or KRW 570 billion per year in monetary terms, and mitigate 1.35㎥ of CO2 emissions.

  • Hydropower generation (1,073 MW in installed capacity)

    K-water has produced 2,453GWh of clean energy per year with 41 hydropower plants in weirs, WTPs, dams, etc. K-water also plans to produce some 39GWh/year of clean energy by developing six additional hydropower plants (12.24MW in total installed capacity), including Chungju Dam.
