As part of the process of establishing measures to improve the algal bloom and water quality management, K-water is promoting the introduction of remote monitoring technology to monitor and predict algal bloom. In order to overcome the limitations of the existing methods, K-water has been developing a remote monitoring technology that attaches an “ultra-spectroscopic sensor” to a drone or an aircraft, which then measures the biochemical characteristics of algal bloom through images (digital data) in the air.
Hak-Soo Lee, President of K-water, said, “We are applying advanced and efficient monitoring, prediction and elimination technologies to deal with the issue of algal bloom which occurs every year. We are devoted to the establishment of a scientific algal bloom management system, so that all citizens can relax in the knowledge that they are using clean and safe water.”
